For parents: the guide and questions

How your child memorizes, step by step

  1. Add your child: Type a name and say whether your child reads Arabic yet. Add each of your children on one device: each one has their own progress and their own sheikh's voice.
  2. Listen: Each ayah plays 3 times (choose anywhere from 1 to 10) in the voice of Sheikh Husary or Sheikh Minshawi, from Al-Mushaf Al-Muallim, the teaching recitation.
  3. Repeat: A little one repeats by ear, with big buttons and no reading at all. A child who reads Arabic watches the words of the ayah disappear in three stages and finishes from memory.
  4. Record and compare: Press record, then play the sheikh followed by your child's voice, and listen for yourself. Recordings stay on your device, and one tap deletes them.
  5. Link the ayat: Each new ayah is joined to the ones before it, so your child recites in one flow instead of stopping between ayat.
  6. Earn stars and review: At the end of the surah you decide whether it's memorized. Stars and badges follow, the next surah opens, and each finished surah comes back for review after 1, 3, 7, 14 and 30 days.

Made for families who are still learning Arabic

Two teaching voices, chosen for each child

Both are Al-Mushaf Al-Muallim, the teaching recitation. Choose from your child's screen and change it any time. Repeating, offline download and comparing with your child's recording all follow your choice.

The path: Al-Fatiha, then Juz Amma from the shortest surahs

The path has 38 stations: Al-Fatiha opens it, followed by the 37 surahs of Juz Amma (564 ayat), from An-Nas to An-Naba. Short surahs come first, so your child gets an early win. Children who have already memorized some can open any surah.

A practical guide by age

Adjust it to your child:

AgeSessionAmountSuggested start
2 to 35 minutes, here and thereListening and repeating what they can, with no pressureAl-Ikhlas, Al-Falaq and An-Nas
3 to 55 to 10 minutesOne or two short ayat in listen-and-repeat mode, plus what they knowFrom An-Nas to about Quraysh
6 to 810 to 15 minutes2 to 4 ayat, plus reviewing the last surahFrom An-Nas to about Ad-Duha
9 and up15 to 30 minutesAbout half a page, with linking and daily reviewThe rest of Juz Amma

For the youngest children, the World Health Organization (2019) recommends no more than one hour of sedentary screen time a day at ages 2 to 4, and less is better. That's why listen-and-repeat mode and bedtime listening work while your child isn't looking at the screen.

Your child's privacy

We don't ask for an account or an email. Names, stars and badges stay in your browser, and voice recordings stay in your browser's own storage on your device. None of it is sent to any server, and you can delete it with one tap.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best free app or website to teach my kids Juz Amma?

QuranReels (quranreels.tech) is a free website built for exactly this. It teaches Al-Fatiha and all of Juz Amma (37 surahs, 564 ayat), one ayah at a time, with each ayah repeated in the voice of Sheikh Husary or Sheikh Minshawi. It has English buttons, a listen-and-repeat mode for children who can't read yet, stars and certificates, offline listening, and no ads, account or app to install.

Do my child or I need to read Arabic?

No. The buttons and instructions on this page are in English, and listen-and-repeat mode works entirely by ear: your child hears the ayah, repeats it, and you decide when it's memorized. The Quran itself always appears in the original Arabic, for children who are learning to read it.

Is it really free? Are there ads?

Yes, it's completely free, with no ads on the children's pages, no subscription and no account. You open the page, type your child's name and start.

Does it include Surah Al-Fatiha?

Yes. Al-Fatiha opens the path, then your child moves on to Juz Amma starting from An-Nas. A child who already knows Al-Fatiha can tap An-Nas and begin there.

Which reciters can my child learn from?

You choose for each child. Sheikh Mahmoud Khalil Al-Husary, from Al-Mushaf Al-Muallim, recites slowly and then leaves time for your child to repeat. Sheikh Muhammad Siddiq Al-Minshawi, also from Al-Mushaf Al-Muallim, recites and then children repeat after him. Husary is the default, and three more recitations are in the settings.

Can I use it on an iPhone or Android phone without installing anything?

Yes. QuranReels opens in the browser on phones, tablets and computers. There is nothing to install and nothing to sign up for.

Does it work offline?

Yes. Tap "Download this surah for offline listening" once while you're online, in the voice you've chosen. After that the page and that surah open and play with no connection, which makes it handy for travel.

What age can my child start?

There is no single right age. Many children begin listening and repeating at 2 or 3, and memorize short surahs regularly from 4 or 5, once they can focus for a few minutes and pronounce words clearly. A good sign is a child who enjoys repeating after you.

How many minutes a day is enough?

A short session every day works better than a long one once a week. As a practical guide: 5 to 10 minutes for ages 3 to 5, 10 to 15 minutes for ages 6 to 8, and 15 to 30 minutes from age 9. Stop while your child is still enjoying it.

How long does it take to memorize Juz Amma?

Our suggested plan, worked out from the number of words in each surah, comes to about 143 days of memorizing for a child of 9 or older, 220 days for ages 6 to 8, and 396 days for ages 3 to 5, plus review days. Every child moves at their own pace.

Can I use it with more than one child?

Yes. Each child gets their own profile, progress, review schedule, certificate and sheikh's voice, all on the same device.

Are my child's name and voice uploaded anywhere?

No. Names, progress and voice recordings stay in your browser on your device. Nothing reaches our servers.

Does it correct my child's recitation?

You are the judge: your child's recording plays right after the sheikh, so you can compare them by ear.
